As a parent of two three-year-old twins (a boy and a girl), there will always be something that worries me the most, no matter what. That is, of course, my children's whereabouts, and I believe this will only grow as they get older.

As a tech geek, the only thing I can think of is, obviously, a tracking gadget for each one of them.

And as a smartwatch enthusiast, well... you already know where this is going.

If you're not quite like me and you're here just to find out what's the best waterproof smartwatch that you can buy for your kid, don't worry, there also are great non-tracking or gaming smartwatches on this list.

Why waterproof smartwatches?

I think it's obvious: we don't really like to be too worried about anything at all.

Warning!

You must have a Voice+SMS+Data plan SIM card to be able to use any tracking smartwatch. If you're looking for an affordable tracking smartwatch, make sure you still have 2G GSM coverage.

Your child can safely take these smartwatches to the shower and even to the pool.

#1 Affordable Tracking Smartwatch: Themoemoe Kids GPS Watch

If you're looking for a budget GPS tracking smartwatch, then this is the one. Keep in mind that this is not the best in class, but as long as you still have 2G coverage, then this one should do just fine.

It also supports LBS tracking(and GPS), which, while not being as good as a GPS tracking system, can be a reasonably good fallback.

You can set up to three Do not disturb periods where the only thing that they can do with the smartwatch is pressing the SOS button for emergency calls.

The camera could be better, though.

#2 Premium Tracking Smartwatch: OJOY A1 Kids Smart Watch

If you're willing to pay a little bit more for some extra features, then Ojoy A1 is here to deliver just that.

The A1 works on 4G networks, has a 1.4" display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection, a step counter, 4Gb of storage (shared with the OS), 512Mb of RAM, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor.

Internet connection is limited to voice and video calls and tracking the watch. It doesn't allow kids to install browsers, games, or apps.

You can set a geofence alert by defining an area on the map through the application. If your little one moves out of that area, you'll get an instant notification.

You can also activate the microphone of the watch without creating any alert on the watch itself.

There also is a 2MP front-facing camera with an 84-degree wide-angle lens.

It also has a school mode for a distraction-free class.

#3 Affordable Smartwatch: Garmin Vívofit jr 2

This smartwatch doesn't have GPS, so it's more of a fitness tracker. It has sleep tracking and a 60-minute activity goal with a focus on rewards and chores that parents can manage on their phone app. When activity goals are met, kids can earn virtual coins and later exchange them for agreed-upon rewards.

This is a Star Wars Edition, and one of the potential rewards is a progression on a Star Wars story app.

#4 Premium Smartwatch: TicWatch E2

While this is not specifically a kid-focused smartwatch, if you think your kid is old enough to handle a "grown-men toy," this is one of the cheapest and best Wear OS smartwatches available out there. Plus, It is a 5ATM waterproof device, which means it should work fine, even at 50 meters underwater.

The key feature here is the Wear OS, which allows you to install tons of apps, games, and watchfaces (click here to check the top 50 apps for Wear OS) from the Google Play Store, but the caveat is that it is way more useful when connected to a smartphone.

Keep in mind that you won't be able to restrict it's usage as much as a traditional kid-focused smartwatch, but in return, you'll get a much more feature-rich experience. It has a 24h heart-rate sensor, a steps counter, music over Bluetooth, 512Mb of RAM, 4GB of internal space (shared with the OS), swim style detection, Snapdragon Wear 2100, and detachable straps.

If you're considering other options, check the link below, and you'll probably find one in less than 3 minutes from a list of 50 smartwatches.

#5 Gaming Smartwatch: FOROPIOLY Watch for Kids

If you're only looking for the perfect gift for your child, this is it. Picking up a gaming smartwatch for the first time will absolutely be an unforgettable moment for him or her.

Foropioly may be one (or the only) of the few sellers that have a waterproof gaming smartwatch. They say it's IP67 and that you can take it into deep water for more than 3 hours, so it's more of an IP68 smartwatch.

It comes with 3 games: 2048, Schulte Grid, and a Tetris-like brick game.

It also has an audio player, a camera, an SOS button, a MicroSD slot, and 2G connectivity but no GPS.

#6 You should also consider: Xiaomi Amazfit Bip

Although a little bit outdated, it is still one of the best for its price range. This is the perfect smartwatch for your child if he fancies something a little bit more "adult-like," and you don't want to worry about the dangers of the online world nor having to charge just another gadget every other day.

It's always-on-display, it's custom watch faces, it's GPS, and the detachable straps make it a clear winner. Plus, you'll also get a Gorilla Glass display, IP68 waterproof, and up to 45 days of battery life for worry-free day-to-day usage.

IP67 Waterproof Smartwatches

While not as waterproof as an IP68 device, your kid can still safely wash its hands and probably (although not recommended) even take a shower with it. But remember that rubber and hot water do not play nice with each other.

#8 Premium Tracking Smartwatch: TickTalk 3

This is, without a doubt, the #1 kids smartwatch of this list. It features video and voice chat over 4G or Wi-Fi to a predefined contacts list, detachable nylon strap, a do not disturb mode, remote voice monitoring, a dial pad that can be disabled by parents, a neat messaging center with preset (and editable) text messages (plus emojis, pictures and stickers), up to 20 reminders, and 5Gb of storage for video and photos.

For safety reasons, video calls are limited to 3 minutes at a time, but at least, it has a pretty decent video quality for a smartwatch.

It may be a bit chunky on a tiny wrist of a child, but other than that, it's a great buy.
